REVO Electric Racing: To the Race Track
REVO Electric Racing is an undergraduate organization at Olin College of Engineering focused on educating young engineers about the development and manufacturing of electric vehicles. Our mission is to create an environment in which students can design, analyze, and manufacture a large scale interdisciplinary engineering project. Formula SAE and Formula Hybrid provide a rigorous framework for us to grow tremendously as a team while continuing to hold to our mission. It is our belief that building a vehicle for these competitions will be one of the most challenging, engaging, and complex projects our members will work on during their time at Olin.
Why REVO Electric Racing is Important
As engineers, we have an opportunity to fundamentally change the way humans move. The technology driving automobiles has remained unchanged for a century, and we are in a unique position to challenge this paradigm. Our electrical team develops innovative drive systems, and our mechanical team optimizes existing solutions for this new set of parameters. We are highly passionate and motivated students, collectively spending thousands of hours every semester to accomplish our goals. Starting with our designs and finishing with a vehicle we can race is the culmination of our education at Olin.
Why We Need You
In May and June 2016, the team will be travelling to the New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Nebraska’s Lincoln Airpark to race in Formula Hybrid and Formula SAE Electric. We will be competing against an international field of undergraduate and graduate teams who have years of experience under their belt. We want to show them what we are capable of, as Olin students and as REVO Electric Racing, and we need your help to get us there!
Our goal for this campaign is to raise enough funding to bring as many members of our team as possible to both competitions.
Building a formula car and buying the necessary equipment is expensive, and while we have met our fundraising goals for our car and equipment, we do not have enough to cover our travel expenses. The money we raise in this fundraiser will go directly toward the cost of transporting our vehicle and team members to New Hampshire and Nebraska along with accommodations during the events. Showing off our work and learning from industry engineers, company recruiters, and fellow teams are the driving forces behind the thousands of hours we spend designing, building, and testing our car. Thank you for being a part of the REVO Electric Racing team, we'll see you on the track!
