Olin Baja Team 2016
What is Olin Baja?
Olin Baja is Olin College’s Baja SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) team. We are a student-run extracurricular club which designs and builds off-road vehicles and compete in SAE collegiate competitions. Our team is comprised of about 30 undergraduate engineers ranging from first through senior year students. Olin Baja provides a unique complement to the college’s project-oriented curriculum by allowing students to directly practice the skills learned in the classroom in a long-term engineering project.
Working on a large team to build a complex system helps students develop as engineers due to the creativity, rigor, and teamwork that being on the team requires. Throughout the year students gain experience with mechanical design, CAD software, various fabrication techniques, and also project management. One of the most important learning experiences of being on the team is going to competition. We believe that competitions should be accessible to everyone on the team so that all members can see the results of their hard work and dedication in action.
How You Can Help
In the eyes of Baja SAE competitions, we are a young team. As a result, we do not have the funding and resources that many older teams at other institutions have accumulated. Olin Baja relies solely on outside sponsorship and donations to fund our design and competition goals. Any contribution that you could make would be greatly appreciated. All funds raised will go to allowing us to buy parts for the car, fabrication of the car, and offsetting travel costs for all team members to attend our competition in Kansas this May. Supporters will receive recognition on our website and on our team gear, which includes a company logos on the team shirts and on the car.
